Position: Senior Scrum Master/Agile Team Coach (Cybersecurity)
Location: Washington, D.C. (Onsite - Locals or neighboring states only)
Employment Type: Contract

Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Scrum Master / Agile Team Coach to support a mission-critical cybersecurity program within a major federal enterprise. This role blends hands-on Agile facilitation with team coaching to drive delivery excellence, boost transparency, and mature Agile practices across multiple technical teams.

The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in enterprise Agile delivery, deep knowledge of Kanban and Scrum frameworks, and strong experience navigating the cybersecurity landscape. You will work closely with engineers, Product Owners, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure Agile execution aligns with security goals and compliance mandates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies (Scrum and Kanban) across multiple cybersecurity-focused teams.

  • Guide teams in implementing and optimizing Kanban practices (e.g., WIP limits, flow visualization, cycle time improvements).

  • Partner with Product Owners to maintain actionable, prioritized backlogs aligned with evolving cyber threats and compliance needs.

  • Drive team autonomy, delivery predictability, and transparency through metrics and visual management tools.

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration across engineering, DevSecOps, compliance, and business units.

  • Mentor team members and junior Scrum Masters in Agile roles, practices, and delivery flow.

  • Lead retrospectives and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with security KPIs and delivery goals.

  • Leverage Jira Align, Jira Software, and Confluence to support planning, dependency management, and delivery tracking.

  • Act as a bridge between cybersecurity leadership and delivery teams to ensure alignment on risk, posture, and priorities.

  • Promote a culture of psychological safety, continuous learning, and disciplined agility.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Team Coach in enterprise environments.

  • SAFe 6.0 Scrum Master Certification (SSM) Required.

  • Advanced proficiency with Jira Align, Jira Software, Confluence, and Kanban delivery frameworks.

  • Hands-on experience supporting cybersecurity, DevSecOps, or regulatory compliance teams.

  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and stakeholder communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
