We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Manager in our Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group to lead programs related to nuclear reactor and related technology development. This position will report to the Vice President of Nuclear Technologies and Materials (NTM) Division. This incumbent will manage/coordinate current terrestrial and space nuclear reactor related programs and maintain NTM's state-of-the-art reactor technology and design capabilities and have a focus on interacting with DOE. This position will have overall responsibility for the technical and business performance of nuclear reactor design and technology programs; creating new program initiatives; maintaining highly qualified staff; ensuring that necessary resources are made available and building positive relationships with key customer organizations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for creating and implementing a technical/business plan to expand EMS role in terrestrial nuclear systems and technologies including R&D and design leading ultimately to manufacturing and deployment.
- Work with subordinate project managers and lead engineers to manage current nuclear reactor programs with a high level of both technical and business achievement.
- Work with subordinates to acquire and maintain a highly qualified staff.
- Work with NTM/EMS management to assure necessary resources and facilities for programs.
- Inspire creation of new nuclear technologies and concepts and apply for IR&D funding to perform sufficient work to secure IP.
- Oversee preparation of winning proposals in response to new program opportunities.
- Build working relationships with key personnel within customer and potential customer organizations. Coordinate with EMS Strategic Development in this endeavor.
- Work with counterparts in NTM and other EMS organizations to ensure efficient use of staff, resources and facilities.
- Specify application of appropriate EMS engineering procedures, quality assurance policy and other requirements for space nuclear projects.
- Work with space nuclear project managers to prepare budgets, schedules and deliverables and to track progress.
- Work with subordinates to anticipate and resolve technical and programmatic problems.
- Establish and enforce procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Report statprogress on space nuclear programs to upper NTM and EMS management.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications
- Requires a minimum of a Master's degree Nuclear Engineering plus thirteen or more years of nuclear engineering experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- In-depth knowledge of nuclear reactor design, fuels, safety, licensing, and analysis methods.
- Broad knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering fields including mechanical, thermal-fluid, control, electrical and systems analysis.
- At least seven years of experience in managing nuclear reactor design and development programs.
- Effective communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and ability to direct technical teams.
- Able to work extended hours as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE or DoD Security Clearance is desirable.
