Deployed Support Specialist (network technician)
Location: Portsmouth, VA on-site
Employment Length: Long Term
Pay: $26.03-29/hr + $4.93/hr SCA Benefit
Schedule: M-F day shift 40 hour week

Requirements:
Active Secret Clearance
IAT Level II or equivalent (CompTIA Security+)
CCST or CCNA in hand or willing to obtain w/in 6 months
Responsibilities:
Works as an Operations-focused Network Technician on a team responsible for BAN/LAN/WAN Network Operations, troubleshooting, schedule upgrades and cutovers, and coordinate with responsible users and sites.
Provides COMSEC Alternate Local Element support to assigned locations, which includes maintaining COMSEC hardware/software assets and key inventories, loading keys into Encryption devices, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, upgrading, removing/replacing faulty equipment, interacting with the Primary Local Element and/or the Government KOAMs while standing in for the Primary Local Element and following prescribed procedures and processes related to COMSEC.
Documents work activities/details per established tools and processes; maintains accurate site documentation.
Interfaces with Field Base Network Lead and the Network Operations Center (NOC) as required in support of incident troubleshooting and restoral.
Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and removal/replacement of faulty hardware using SOPs, TTPs, work instructions, vendor guidance, and other documented processes and procedures.
Interfaces with the Network Operations Center (NOC) as required in support of incident troubleshooting and restoral.
Supports network configuration/asset management activities, manages configuration drift, and accurately creates or modifies network documentation to reflect the as-is and/or to-be environment.
Supports Cybersecurity requirements and implementation of security controls (STIG compliance).
Coordinates network upgrades and planned maintenance activities with SMIT Program and customer stakeholders.
Recertifies training annually to maintain baseline, participates in training to maintain a baseline skillset and knowledge base, provides input to assist in development and improvement of content for Master Training Syllabus that will define the minimum On-the-Job-Training (OJT) requirements.
Assist with assigned Government Directed Actions (GDA) in a timely manner and reports completion to the Field Base Network Lead.
Position may require local area and/or overnight travel by car or air to assigned locations to conduct operations focused activities i.e. break/fix, COMSEC support, etc.
