Business Intelligence (BI) Developer

Overview:
The BI Developer will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines and reporting solutions that support agency-wide operations. This role involves working with SSIS, Tableau (or Power BI), and other tools to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from third-party systems into internal data warehouses. The ideal candidate will bring both strong technical skills and the ability to deliver actionable insights through reporting and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines using SSIS and related technologies.

  • Develop, optimize, and support data visualizations and reports using Tableau (or Power BI as an acceptable alternative).

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and deliver ad-hoc or standardized reports.

  • Migrate and modernize existing SSIS jobs into improved solutions.

  • Integrate data from multiple third-party systems into internal databases for agency-wide use.

  • Support analysts and web application developers by making data available for queries, reports, and applications.

  • Contribute to machine learning, AI, and advanced analytics initiatives when applicable.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience as a BI Developer, Data Engineer, or related role.

  • Proficiency with SSIS and SQL Server.

  • Strong experience with Tableau (or Power BI).

  • Exposure to Python for data engineering, AI, or machine learning is preferred.

  • Familiarity with law enforcement or government data requirements (a plus).

Additional Details:

  • On-site full-time for the first month, then eligible for a hybrid schedule (typically 3 days per week on-site).
