Job Title: Agile Product Owner / Business Analyst

Location: Boston, MA
Duration: 6 Months


Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Agile Product Owner / Senior Business Analyst to join the IT team supporting a large-scale public sector organization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Agile systems development, requirements management, and business process analysis, along with excellent communication and leadership skills.

This role involves managing and documenting business requirements, supporting Agile development teams, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of technology solutions that align with organizational goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Agile Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) across all phases requirements definition, analysis, design, development, testing, and post-production maintenance.

  • Provide business systems analysis and process redesign expertise; work closely with business users and technical teams to define and document requirements.

  • Manage Agile requirements, including backlog prioritization, sprint scoping, and story refinement.

  • Utilize JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint for documentation, tracking, and collaboration.

  • Monitor system operations and daily reports, including tickets and error logs; research, track, and resolve reported issues.

  • Conduct JAD sessions and analyze workflows to gather and refine business requirements.

  • Evaluate inputs from multiple sources and prioritize user needs using techniques such as MoSCoW analysis.

  • Define and understand data requirements as they relate to business processes and system enhancements.

  • Participate in and coordinate testing and validation for system enhancements and fixes, including creation and execution of test cases and defect resolution.

  • Use SQL and database tools such as TOAD for data validation, reporting, and analysis.

  • Prepare clear and detailed documentation including business analysis summaries, requirement specifications, design documents, and research reports.

  • Track and monitor System Requests, Change Orders, and Information Requests, ensuring proper prioritization and timely resolution.

  • Facilitate project meetings, document key decisions, and distribute meeting notes and status updates.

  • Review and assess the impact of state and federal regulation changes on existing systems and recommend appropriate system modifications.

  • Analyze database structures and data flows to ensure alignment with business and application requirements.

  • Prepare data flow diagrams and business process documentation.

  • Mentor junior staff, sharing knowledge of business operations, systems, and best practices.


Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience as an Agile Product Owner and/or Business Analyst.

  • Proven experience in requirements gathering, business and functional analysis, process modeling, data analysis, system design, testing, implementation, and change management.

  • Hands-on experience supporting Agile projects within a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, technical staff, and senior leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex business and technical issues while mentoring and supporting team members.

  • Adaptability to evolving business processes and organizational priorities.

  • Working knowledge of SQL and experience with data validation and reporting tools.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification.

  • Experience in public sector or enterprise IT modernization projects.

  • Familiarity with regulatory-driven system changes and compliance requirements.
