job Role: SAP HANA Developer

Location: Portland, OR

Experience Required: 10+ years overall IT experience

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP HANA Developer to design, build, and optimize solutions leveraging the native SAP HANA ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in HANA architecture, lifecycle management, and advanced features of HANA 2.0, with a proven track record in performance tuning and large-scale data processing.

Must-Have Skills

  • 10+ years of IT experience with strong focus on SAP HANA development

  • SAP HANA Architecture & Lifecycle Management expertise

  • Hands-on experience with HANA 2.0 features

  • Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts & Analytics

  • Proficiency in SAP HANA artifacts (tables, table functions, views, procedures)

  • Ability to design and develop high-performance data models for reporting requirements

  • Expertise in Performance Tuning, Analysis & Optimization including Explain/Viz Plan analysis


Technologies & Tools

  • HANA Studio, WebIDE, SAP HANA Web IDE

  • Smart Data Integration & Smart Data Quality

  • Data/REST Web Services, SQL/Script

  • UI5, XS Classic Development

  • Security/Privilege concepts and implementations

  • Advanced Modules: HANA Rules Framework, Enterprise Semantic Services, XS Advanced Development, Data Masking, Data History, Agile Data Prep


Key Responsibilities

  • Database Design & Development

    • Design, develop, and optimize data models (Calculation Views, Analytical Views, Attribute Views)

    • Implement SQLScript procedures, functions, and table functions for complex business logic

    • Manage schemas, tables, indexes, and partitions for performance optimization

  • Data Integration

    • Develop ETL processes using SAP Data Services, SLT, or other tools

    • Integrate data from multiple SAP and non-SAP sources into HANA

  • Performance Optimization

    • Analyze and tune SQL queries and data models

    • Implement best practices for in-memory computing and columnar storage

  • Security & Compliance

    • Configure roles, privileges, and authorizations in HANA

    • Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards

  • Reporting & Analytics

    • Support SAP BW on HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, and other BI tools

    • Develop calculation views for real-time analytics

  • Collaboration & Documentation

    • Partner with functional teams, data architects, and business analysts

    • Document technical specifications, data flows, and system architecture

  • Maintenance & Support

    • Monitor HANA system health and performance
