Security Systems Engineer / Specialist

Position Summary / Objective:
We are looking for candidates to fill a Security Systems Engineer / Specialist position at our Wallops Island, Virginia station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) at Wallops Island requires support in management, engineering, operations, and technical expertise for the activation, operation, maintenance, and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs. This support is crucial for all Naval Sea Systems Command and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems missions and projects conducted at SCSC. SCSC offers live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric maritime environment, aimed at developing, testing, evaluating, and conducting fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. Attendance at prescheduled mandatory meetings is required. Must be available during the core work hours as determined by your contract/location and must account for the required number of hours in a pay period to maintain Full-time status.

- Provide subject matter expertise for DoD information systems security policy. \n
- Plan, install, configure, and administer technology such as HBSS, ACAS, SEIM, firewall, patch management, and configuration management solutions to support security policy. \n
- Implement and audit security controls in accordance with RMF Assessment and Authorization requirements. \n
- Conduct periodic DoD Security Technical Information Guide (STIG) compliance audits. \n
- Monitor network vulnerability/risk and implement remedies/mitigations. \n
- Review proposed designs to ensure appropriate security is included. \n
- Use available tools and scripts to reduce the effort to enforce security policy and audit compliance. \n
Required education and experience:
- \n
- AS or AA in Applied Science (Information Systems, Network Administration, or Network Security, or related degree. \n
- (2) years relevant experience (BS or BA will substitute for (2) years of relevant requirement). \n
- (4) years directly related experience in network engineering, maintenance, and security applied to RDT&E & business environments, DoD and Information Technology systems. \n
- Minimum certification as IAT or IAM Level II and Network Certification per DoD 8570.01-M. \n
- Demonstrated Knowledge of:

- Military System Specifications \n
- Network Administration \n
- IA enabled appliances. \n
\n - Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in written and oral presentations. \n
- Switches/routers/firewalls, IDS, DISA STIGS, PKI, NTP, Storage Area Networks, PoE, FPoE, SCSI and DNS. \n
- Preference is minimum of (2) years working in R&D (within (2) years relevant experience. \n
