## Role Summary
We're seeking an experienced Search Platform Administrator with a primary focus on Apache Solr administration and secondary exposure to the ELK Stack. This role will support Solr platforms across both production and non-production environments, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security. You'll also have opportunities to work with Elasticsearch for PoCs and operational observability.

## Key Responsibilities
### Apache Solr (Primary Focus)

- Manage SolrCloud components (ZooKeeper, shards, replicas, leader election).
- Perform advanced JVM tuning (heap, off-heap, garbage collection, threads, caches).
- Diagnose and resolve search performance issues (CPU, latency, throughput, memory leaks).
- Optimize high-volume indexing (commit strategies, merge policies).
- Enforce platform security and high availability (TLS, RBAC, audits, zero-downtime upgrades).
### ELK Stack (Secondary/Optional)
- Design and operate Elasticsearch clusters (for PoCs and production).
- Tune Elasticsearch mappings, shards, JVM, and query DSL.
- Secure Elasticsearch platforms (TLS, RBAC).
- Implement observability and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic).
### Platform Operations
- Execute capacity planning, benchmarking, and RCAs for search platforms.
- Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks, and operational best practices.
### Lucidworks Fusion (Preferred)
- Install, configure, and support Fusion (on-premises or cloud).
- Manage Fusion custom JARs, patches, and support vendor-led upgrades.
- Build and tune ingestion/query pipelines.
- Troubleshoot Fusion/Spark and connector failures.
---
## Required Skills (Must-Have)
- 4 5 years hands-on experience administering Apache Solr.
- Deep expertise in SolrCloud operations and JVM tuning.
- Strong skills in troubleshooting performance, indexing, and query optimization.
- Solid understanding of securing Solr (TLS, RBAC, HA, zero-downtime upgrades).
- Experience supporting Lucidworks Fusion (installation, pipelines, upgrades).
---
## Secondary/Optional Skills (Nice to Have)
- Administration experience with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
- Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic).
- Experience with Spark connectors and ingestion pipeline tuning.
---
## Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
---
To Apply: Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter highlighting relevant Solr and ELK experience.
