Job Title: Inside Plant Fiber Engineer
Contract Type/Length: Long Term Contract until 2025
Hourly and Salary Pay Rate Range: $48.07-$56.73 and $100,000-$118,000
Required Clearance: At least a Secret clearance if you have an active Top Secret it would be preferable.
Interview Process: One step interview with a four person panel. (The panel will not make a final decision for 7-10 days)
Hours of Operation/Location/Hours of Operation: 40 hours per week with 75% travel throughout USA and at least three weeks on the road
Daily Responsibilities:
  • Cable labelling.
  • Create a deployment plan.
  • Design Packages and As-builts.
  • Run Inter and Intra bay fibering.
  • Perform Inside Plant Installation responsibilities.
  • Able to create, redline and interpret complex drawings.
  • Identify materials and tools required to support the task.
  • Test Dark Fiber using test sets to perform OTDR, PMD and CD testing.
  • Perform government asset inventory audits and updates on government owned property.
  • Required to perform End to End testing from DS3 to OC768 using various test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot escalated complex network problems to ensure minimal disruption of critical services.
  • Perform Implementation activities such as but not limited to: Ability to learn how to Commission and Provision Ciena DWDM systems. (Previous DWDM provisioning experience of other systems acceptable).

Required Skills:
  • Need to have rack and stack experience.
  • Ability to multi-task under limited supervision.
  • Need to have familiarity with engineering drawings.
  • Must know how to use Visio proficiently and MS Office.
  • Must be able to Travel more than 75% of the year nationwide.
  • Need to have power installation experience (DC power and bare minimum).
  • Microsoft VISIO, fiber, ciena (provisioning) and preferred, (rodum DWDM) experience.
  • Familiar with Operations Maintenance & Provisioning of DWDM and Ethernet systems is highly desired.
  • Working knowledge of Lumen network systems and databases is highly desired.
  • Experience coordinating network installation activity, test and acceptance using corporate best practices.
  • Possess understanding of Layer 1 and Layer 2 network topology to include fiber, power, ISP, OSP, equipment, signal flow, etc.
  • Professional interaction skills with customers and management and the ability to relate technical issues to management and Government personnel.
  • Working knowledge of fiber transmission standards, SDH, SONET, ATM, switch, routers, GPS, power, network management, O&M procedures, configuration management, and project management processes and procedures.

Education and Experience (desired):
  • Active Secret DoD Clearance is Highly desired.
  • This position is contingent on being able to obtain/hold a security clearance.
  • Five years applicable network operations and engineering experience.
  • All individuals must pass a security pre-screen to ensure eligibility for attaining a clearance if required.
  • Three-five years professional experience working in the operations and maintenance of multi-vendor, multi-protocol networks.
  • BS in Engineering or equivalent and combination of work experience and education (8 years' experience in telecommunications, network operations or similar discipline with background education in Engineering).
