Description

Hybrid: Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be on-site an average of three (3) days each week.

The Role

The Global Manufacturing Software Project Team Lead is critical for improving the quality of GM products including reducing warranty and improving customer vehicle order delays by preventing defects through yard software updates and unknown vehicle impact due to yard activities. This role will help the vehicle plants integrate new software into their produced vehicles as seamlessly as possible. This role is defining the standards for the future of GM.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Collaborate to strategically develop standards around vehicle software
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product to reduce software complexity across General Motors vehicle platforms.
  • Create standards for software integration during launch of new vehicle programs.
  • Develop innovative methods for software release.
  • Define the most effective way to deliver software seamlessly to General Motors vehicles.
  • Assist in program re-flash activities and provide support with regards to Manufacturing re-flash activities.
  • Set up End of Line Tools to efficiently perform re-flash.
  • Integrate with AVFE, AVDE, AVIE, DRE's, SW VSE etc.
  • Set up and maintain End of Line tools and equipment needed.
  • Track all tool locations and software levels. Support the re-flash process.
  • Own, document and optimize the re-flash process to ensure delivery to high targets.
  • Communicate efficiently and, in some cases, control the release of vehicle holds to allow shipment to the customer.
  • Perform daily re-flash log audits to ensure process robustness and that vehicles are being delivered while meeting GM's quality standards.
  • Cross-collaborate with GM and non-GM resources to ensure efficiency throughout the entire re-flash process
  • Gather and provide data
  • Understand top issues manufacturing is experiencing and read across to future programs to drive early intervention.
  • Monitor re-flash activities and provide feedback of results.
  • Be the VOICE of the Global Electrical Support Team
  • Speak up in meetings, ask questions, ensure full understanding of the project scope and expectations. Be the expert.
  • Familiarity with all GM EOL test stations.
  • Expertise in GM vehicle software development and deployment strategies.
  • Proficient in GM vehicle safety standards.
  • Knowledge in both Internal Combustion Engine (I.C.E) and Electric Vehicle architectures.
  • Role requires 50% Travel

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree with preferred focus in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Three years of vehicle engineering experience
  • Overall vehicle electrical system experience
  • Automotive assembly plant operations.
  • GM quality systems
  • GM vehicle development process
  • Familiarity with vehicle electrical architecture (i.e., ISO 14229, Cybersecurity, Ethernet)
  • Ability to read CAN/Ethernet log files.
  • Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Electrical engineering experience
