Role Overview:
Client is seeking an experienced and licensed Structural Engineer with a valid P.Eng (Professional Engineer) certification in Canada to join our multidisciplinary engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the structural analysis and design of facilities and structures for energy, petrochemical, and heavy industrial projects in Canada and globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze steel and concrete structures including pipe racks, equipment supports, foundations, buildings, and platforms.
- Perform structural analysis using industry-standard tools (STAAD.Pro, RISA, SAP2000, S-FRAME, or similar).
- Develop and review structural drawings, general arrangements, reinforcement details, and connection designs.
- Prepare technical calculations, design reports, material take-offs, and construction specifications.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as CSA S16, NBCC, AISC, ACI, and API.
- Collaborate with other disciplines such as piping, mechanical, and electrical to ensure coordinated design.
- Support field engineering, construction reviews, site inspections, and resolution of design issues during execution.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and constructability sessions with clients and stakeholders.
- Review vendor/supplier documents related to structural components and building systems.
- Ensure safety, quality, and environmental considerations are incorporated into all structural designs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with a Canadian engineering body (e.g., PEO, APEGA, EGBC).
- 8 15 years of experience in structural engineering for oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or industrial projects.
- Strong proficiency in structural analysis/design software and CAD tools (AutoCAD, Tekla).
- Thorough understanding of Canadian building codes and standards.
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in both greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Knowledge of seismic and wind design for industrial structures.
- Familiarity with modular construction and skid-mounted equipment supports.
- Previous EPC/EPCM project experience with global engineering teams.
- Experience in structural integrity assessments and retrofitting.
