Title: Technical Artist III - Tools & Pipeline Overview:
Compensation: $47.70-$62.39/Hour
Location: 100% Remote
Duration: 6 month contract
Work Requirement: , Holder, or Authorized to work in the U.S.
As a Tools & Pipeline Technical Artist you will collaborate with the Art, Design, and Engineering teams to streamline the content creation processes across (game). Using your expertise with Autodesk Maya, Photoshop, Substance Painter/Designer, Perforce, and Unreal Engine, you will unblock artists, streamline asset workflows, and build future-proof tooling to accelerate content creation. Working closely with tech artists and production on the team, you will standardize and improve the technical development processes, support artists, produce supporting technical content (such as materials/shaders), and build scalable development workflows.
This is primarily a technical position and we welcome Technical Artists with a strong artistic background too. Working as a Tech Artist requires a combination of art sensibilities, technical knowledge related to the game dev environment, and a high degree of communication and collaboration. You will report to the Senior Manager, Technical Art, and work closely with the Tech Lead and other members of the Tools & Pipeline team across Los Angeles and Sydney.
Responsibilities

Provide technical support to artists and collect data to further improve the tools they use.

Identify and build foundational pipelines and tools.

Identify gaps in tools & workflows and make recommendations to leadership for targeted improvements.

Collaborate with production to develop a long-term strategy to maintain and evolve the art workflows for your product/area.

Build relationships with the artists and engineers you work alongside to understand their needs and provide consultation on tool and pipeline development.

Provide guidance and support to Technical Artists on your team in the form of code reviews, testing, and feedback.
Required Qualifications
-
5+ years of professional experience as a technical artist in games or related industries.

Professional experience in content creation and tool development for DCC tools, especially Maya, Photoshop, and Substance Designer/Painter.

Professional experience working in Unreal Engine.

Professional experience in tool development in Python.

Highly proficient communication skills and capacity to act as an ambassador between art and engineering.

Superb critical thinking skills, particularly as it pertains to translating artistic requirements to sustainable workflow design.

Proactive, Responsible, Autonomous.
Desired Qualifications

Experiencing working in a large team on a AAA game title.

Strong understanding of the game asset art pipeline.

Proficiency in C++ for Unreal Engine.
