Job Title: Network Technician
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Network Technician to join our client to support the stability, performance, and growth of enterprise-wide networking across the Commonwealth. In this role, you’ll help maintain critical edge network infrastructure, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and contribute to the design and enhancement of LAN/WAN environments. You’ll work closely with internal teams, agency partners, and service providers to keep systems secure, optimized, and aligned with evolving technology standards. This is a full-time, onsite contract position based in Harrisburg, PA.
Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities of the Network Technician:
Network Infrastructure Installation & Maintenance
Install, configure, and support switches, routers, firewalls, wireless components, SD-WAN appliances, and related network hardware/software to ensure reliable connectivity across edge environments.
Troubleshooting & Performance Management
Monitor, test, and diagnose network issues using industry-standard tools; collaborate with users, service providers, and technical teams to resolve complex incidents and keep systems running smoothly.
Architecture Support & Technical Planning
Assist in designing and enhancing LAN/WAN architectures, including capacity planning, bandwidth analysis, schematic documentation, and development of configuration standards.
Change Management & Deployment Support
Participate in planned deployments, upgrades, and change management processes; coordinate with agency teams to ensure smooth implementations and proper documentation within ServiceNow.
Documentation, Collaboration & Emerging Technology Evaluation
Create and maintain Visio diagrams, configuration documentation, and technical records; support agency and remote IT teams with network needs; assess new technologies and provide recommendations for future improvements.
Qualifications and Skills for the Network Technician:
Experience supporting enterprise-scale networks, including hands-on work with switching, routing, firewalls, wireless systems, and SD-WAN solutions.
Strong troubleshooting capabilities with familiarity in network monitoring tools, automation utilities, and incident management platforms such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
Knowledge of routing protocols and best practices for designing, deploying, and optimizing high-performing network environments.
A degree in a related field is preferred, though equivalent technical experience will be considered; CCNA/CCNP certifications or comparable hands-on expertise are highly valuable.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., use standard networking equipment, work from step ladders, and maintain a valid driver’s license for occasional travel.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with technical teams, business units, and external stakeholders.
