Job Title: Programmer Advanced

Duration: 12 Months (Contract)
Location: Remote

<>Role Overview</>

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Programmer to support production systems, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute to short-term development initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with technical, operational, QA, and business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

<>Scope of Work</>

  • Provide production system backfill support

  • Work on smaller, short-term development projects as needed

  • Collaborate with customers, development teams, operations, and QA staff

  • Participate in an on-call rotation as required

<>Key Responsibilities</>

  • Develop and maintain COBOL and ADS programs on a Mainframe (MVS) environment

  • Perform coding changes using IDMS Network and Relational databases

  • Debug, unit test, and support integration testing of code changes

  • Support QA, UAT, and external testing by resolving defects and making code updates

  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal formats

  • Collaborate with internal teams and contracted staff

<>Required Skills & Experience (in order of importance)</>

  • Mainframe programming (MVS)

  • COBOL

  • JCL

  • IDMS (Network & Relational Database)

  • Strong soft skills including communication, adaptability, problem-solving, and time management

<>Minimum Qualifications</>

  • 5+ years of experience with Mainframe programming

  • 5+ years of experience with COBOL

  • 5+ years of experience with JCL

  • 5+ years of experience with IDMS databases

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment

<>Education</>

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

<>Preferred Skills</>

  • Changeman

  • TSO / ADS

  • Footprints

  • SAS

  • File-Aid

  • Prior experience with Medicaid systems
