Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Snowflake Architect to lead the design, development, and end-to-end delivery of enterprise-grade Snowflake data platforms. The ideal candidate will have completed at least three full-cycle implementations of Snowflake and possess deep knowledge of data architecture, performance optimization, and cloud-native data warehousing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and participate in the end-to-end implementation of Snowflake-based data platforms.
- Design data models (star/snowflake schema), data pipelines, and transformations tailored for Snowflake architecture.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures within Snowflake.
- Migrate data from legacy systems or other cloud platforms to Snowflake (AWS/Google Cloud Platform/Azure).
- Implement data ingestion frameworks using ETL/ELT tools like DBT, Matillion, Talend, or Informatica.
- Ensure optimal performance through indexing, clustering, and query tuning.
- Manage role-based access control (RBAC), data masking, and security policies in Snowflake.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation and provide mentorship to junior developers.
- Design data ingestion solution for batch / real processing using snowflake features like snow pipe, streams, tasks etc
- Snowflake cost monitoring and provide solutions for optimizing the snowflake cost
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in data engineering or warehousing with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in Snowflake.
- Successfully delivered 3 or more full-cycle Snowflake implementations.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, performance tuning, and data modelling principles.
- Experience working in snowflake features like Snowpipe, streams and tasks
- Has experience coding in SnowPark.
- Experience in handling different type of file formats like JSON, XML and ability to read and parse them using Snowflake functions
- Good exposure to UDF and UDTF in snowflake
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Google Cloud Platform/Azure) and native connectors to Snowflake.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and version control (Git, Jenkins).
- Exposure to scheduling/orchestration tools (Airflow, Control-M, etc.).
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
- Snowflake certification (Snow Pro Core / Advanced Architect).
- Experience integrating BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Knowledge of Python or scripting for automation.
- Understanding of data governance and compliance frameworks.
