Job Description
The Controls Hardware Engineer is responsible for designing, checking, and troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and water systems for assigned projects.
The primary objective is to ensure products perform effectively while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Supports projects from inception to completion, overseeing engineering concepts, proposals, layouts, and details while engaging with customers.
- Attends customer meetings, records minutes, and ensures all requirements are addressed.
- Reviews drawings before final release, ensuring compliance with internal project buyoffs.
- Monitors Engineering/Project Controls budget, ensuring designs are cost-effective.
- Ensures compliance with customer specifications, keeping the company informed of any regulatory changes.
- Organizes design revisions, generates change information for estimating, and supports proposal development.
- Assists in estimating and concept development for new projects.
- Adheres to safety & environmental regulations, identifying concerns and ensuring compliance.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives, aligning with the Quality System.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required to fulfill job responsibilities effectively.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year institution or eight+ years of relevant experience/training.
- Preferred degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Science (CS).
Skills & Competencies:
To succeed in this role, the individual must demonstrate:
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, including safety rules, operational manuals, and procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting before groups.
- Mathematical proficiency, including calculations related to discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and geometric measurements.
- Analytical thinking, capable of applying basic algebra and geometry concepts.
- Problem-solving skills, managing standardized situations and resolving multiple concrete variables efficiently.
Other Relevant Information:
- Experienced Automation Fluids Designer, with expertise in pneumatic and hydraulic control components for industrial machine automation.
- Knowledgeable in sizing valves, tubing, and fittings for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders and actuators.
- Proficient in engineering calculations for designed circuits.
- Hands-on experience with ePlan and AutoCAD for schematic design and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with leading product lines such as Festo and Parker, ensuring compatibility and efficiency in automation designs.
