Fort Wayne, IN | Sr. Database Administrator | Full-time

We are actively recruiting a Sr. Database Administrator for our client in Fort Wayne, IN. This is a hybrid contract to hire opportunity and will require being on-site in Fort Wayne 3 to 4 days per week. As the Sr. Database Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting the Enterprise database environment and ensuring their performance, availability, and security; your knowledge of Azure and MS technology (SQL Server and Azure SQL services, among others) will support our data, cloud infrastructure, legacy and Saas applications, and the business processes this technology supports.

Responsibilities

  • Work with multiple business operations teams to plan, design, develop and implement various SQL, inter-platform, and data solutions.
  • contribute to cloud and 3rd-party environments by providing solutions through architecture and data modeling.
  • maintain and nurture PTR s databaseenvironment
  • play a lead roleinallaspects ofdatabase management including installation, patching, backup, recovery,performance, tuning,securityand space management.
  • Maintain Indexes, Usage and Performance Statistics
  • Implementing/maintaining database related monitoring and alerting
  • Triage &automate database related tasks
  • Develop, implement, and maintain TSQL scripts, stored procedures, and other database objects
  • Ensure database security by setting up appropriate roles, permissions, and firewalls in the Azure environment
  • Collaborate with the development and IT teams to design and implement database architectures that support application requirements
  • Provide guidance on best practices for database design, backup, recovery, and performance tuning in the Azure environment
  • Monitor database performance and capacity, making recommendations for scaling and optimization
  • Stay updated with the latest Azure database offerings and technologies, ensuring our company leverages the best tools available
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues
  • Document processes, architectures, and best practices for database management in the Azure cloud
  • provide technical visionand leadership related to Microsoft SQL Serverand database operations
  • Database Backup, Backup Verification, and Restore.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Azure database offerings, especially Azure SQL Database and CosmosDB
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory or Microsoft Dynamics Data Migration Framework
  • Proficient in TSQL development, including writing and optimizing complex queries
  • Strong understanding of database security, backup, and recovery procedures
  • Familiarity with Azure monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Data Management and Analytics preferred
  • Experience developing/modeling high performing databases (both OLTP and OLAP)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL servers (2017, 2019 and 2022 versions)
  • Experience working with blocking and deadlocking issues
  • Capacity Planning Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Ten (10) years of DBA experience may be substituted for a bachelor s degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on Microsoft SQL 2019
  • Preferred, 5 or more years of experience working within High Availability (HA) SQL Server environments
  • 5 or more years of experience optimizing T-SQL queries
  • Five (5)or moreof virtualized server experiencewithMicrosoftSQL Server
  • Willingness to work as part of an on-call rotation andconductplanned after hour maintenance as required
  • Experience with cloud-based database services, such as Azure SQL Database .
  • Cloud database architecture experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and concepts such as Agile, SAFE, scrum, CI/CD, and DevOps, preferred
  • Knowledge on dashboards and Dashboard platforms such as Azure s Application Insights, AWS QuickSights, Google Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, preferred
