About this Position:

Job Title: Laravel/PHP Architect

Responsibilities:

  • Design end-to-end system architecture to support educational assessment, web-based test delivery, and training platforms.

  • Define and document architecture patterns, technology stack, and integration points across multiple modules and systems.

  • Ensure selected architecture meets requirements for scalability, performance, and accessibility, especially for diverse learners including those with cognitive disabilities.

  • Lead the selection and implementation of core technologies, including Laravel PHP framework (10.x+), Vue.js, Composer, Git, and API integration.

  • Ensure seamless and secure integration with internal APIs and backend systems.

  • Establish technical design standards and development guidelines in compliance with WCAG 2.0 AA, FERPA, and OWASP Top Ten security practices.

  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and university stakeholders to align system architecture with pedagogical goals and user needs.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise software architecture, with a focus on scalable and modular system design.

  • Strong experience in Laravel and scalable web app design; familiarity with security and accessibility standards.

  • Proven experience architecting web-based systems with multi-platform compatibility (Windows, macOS, iPads, Chromebooks).

  • Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g., OWASP), data privacy compliance (FERPA), and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0 Level AA).

  • Experience designing APIs for educational technology platforms is preferred.

  • Knowledge of integration practices for assistive technologies and adaptive testing environments is a plus.
