Description & Requirements
Maximus is currently seeking Senior IT Project Manager. The Senior IT Project Manager will manage all aspects of project execution, including work breakdown, scheduling, resource allocation, milestone tracking, adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables, and oversee day-to-day activities for both internal and vendor-managed project teams.
This is a remote position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the point of contact and client interface for project technology related issues.
- Manage project expectations, evaluate project needs, and communicate with stakeholders to ensure that program needs are met with respect to urgency and priority.
- Develop trust, credibility, and strong client relationships; seeks opportunities to add value to internal and external client initiatives.
- Review all project deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy meet project, stakeholder, and contractual standards.
- Execute all project management functions including; work breakdown and cost estimation, scheduling, monitoring and tracking of technical progress against the defined timetables and budgets, and staff assignment and development.
- Lead and direct the successful delivery of application development, systems integration, infrastructure, and product installation/customization services while ensuring that assigned projects adhere to the approved life cycle work patterns, standards, and procedures for solution delivery.
- Define and implement development plans for assigned projects.
- Typically responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within job area.
- Ensure staff is knowledgeable on the applications and technologies in use on the project and that project team understands and follows processes and procedures.
- Provide detailed direction during various stages of the lifecycle to include requirements analysis, testing, and potentially programming support.
- Identify and assess new functional capabilities supporting engineering change proposals and additional follow on work.
- Identify, track, manage, and communicate risks and issues with stakeholders and upper management.
- Coordinate, prepare, and manage technical presentations and functional demonstrations to internal and external stakeholders.
Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison among technical teams, business stakeholders, project/program managers, and external clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle (Initiate, Plan, Execute, Close).
- Establish and manage client and business relationships, set and manage expectations of project sponsors, and seek opportunities to add value to client initiatives.
- Lead program kick-off and recurring stand-up meetings, facilitate project meetings, and track progress, tasks, dependencies, and risks to ensure stakeholder alignment.
- Function as a liaison between business operations, engineering, and senior management to ensure stakeholder alignment.
- Drive quality assurance processes, including defect tracking, prioritization, and resolution during testing phases.
- Report and escalate issues related to scope, schedule, budget, and quality to senior management, and provide regular status updates.
- Plan, document, and manage go-live events and related production changes, including after-hours implementations as needed.
- Partner with finance and business operations to track budgets and forecast resources.
- Review all project deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy meet project, stakeholder, and contractual standards.
- Perform comprehensive project management responsibilities, including work breakdown structure creation, cost estimation, scheduling, monitoring and tracking technical progress relative to established timelines and budgets, as well as staff allocation and development.
- Oversee application development, systems integration, infrastructure standup, and product installation/customization to ensure projects follow approved life cycle standards and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 7+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university within preferred field of study in Computer Science or Business Management. Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Per customer requirements, this position requires United States Citizenship.
- 7+ years of direct IT-related experience working on complex, enterprise-wide solutions.
- 5+ years' experience working as a project manager or program manager, delivering complex projects in a medium to large size organization.
- 3+ years managing indirect or direct resources.
- Ability to oversee the project budget throughout the lifecycle.
- Experience in development and implementation of IT applications to support complex business processes focused on customer/client identification, outreach and education, service delivery, and ongoing relationship management.
- Ability to perform quantitative and qualitative analyses.
- Experience successfully developing and deploying IT solutions using various development methodologies (e.g., waterfall, iterative, etc.).
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with project management tools and software, such as Smartsheet, MS Project or JIRA.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Visio or Lucid Charts experience desired.
- PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or Agile certifications are a plus.
- Experience soliciting, procuring, and managing IT vendors and subcontractors.
- Experience facilitating development of enterprise architectures to support complex IT solution deliverables.
- Familiarity with data security in health/insurance/financial services application areas, including security architectures, authentication and non-repudiation, cryptography, etc.
- Experience with cloud-based projects: AWS, Azure, etc.
- Familiarity with SAFe based delivery is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
