Job Description

Hybrid: Reporting to a specific location where work needs to be performed / collaboration should happen (regardless this location is within a hub) and without regard to where a candidate lives (some employees may end up hybrid who live more than 50 miles away but where business needs dictate them to be onsite at a specific location three days per week).
  • This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren GM Global Technical Center Or Sunnyvale Technical Center three times per week, at minimum.
  • This job is eligible for relocation benefits.


About the role:

Our Human Interface Design studio is seeking several highly strategic, creative, and driven individuals to join us as Senior Managers - Vehicle Interface Design, specializing in either Core UI or Brand UI. As part of our team, you will help shape digital user interfaces across multiple brands and vehicle platforms-work that directly impacts our business success and enriches the lives of millions.

As a Senior Manager, you'll collaborate closely with design leadership to deliver world-class solutions at an enterprise scale. Depending on your focus, you will lead and grow either our Brand Design Team or the Core Vehicle User Interface Platform Design Team within a major vehicle design studio, ensuring the consistent delivery of exceptional vehicle products.

Key responsibilities:

Core UI Senior Manager
  • Forge strong partnerships with stakeholders across design, product, and engineering to drive design initiatives and elevate user experience capabilities enterprise-wide .
  • Demonstrate expertise in shipping high-quality user interface systems, applying human-centered design principles, and employing agile software methodologies.
  • Lead the development and deployment of the core UI platform for our vehicle operating systems, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
  • Establish and advocate for global design standards, ensuring seamless integration of third-party platforms, applications, and features.
  • Guide distributed design teams as they build and integrate new features and content, maintaining a focus on innovation and customer needs.


Brand UI Senior Manager
  • Develop and implement branded visual languages within our vehicle user interfaces in close collaboration with key design, product, and engineering partners.
  • Drive the creation and adoption of branded UI libraries, palettes, guidelines, and assets for multi-brand environments.
  • Champion aesthetics and visual design principles, ensuring all in-vehicle products reflect world-class brand experiences.
  • Lead conceptual work to shape the future of brand design, leveraging customer insights and creative exploration.
  • Facilitate critiques and reviews, promoting quality and consistency in design execution across teams.
  • Enable distributed teams and external partners to successfully integrate brand standards and assets, ensuring unified brand expression.


Studio-Wide Responsibilities
  • Grow and manage a multidisciplinary team of 30+ designers, spanning various contributor and management levels.
  • Develop and mature teams focused on product and user interface design, nurturing talent and fostering high performance.
  • Manage relationships and oversee projects with third-party design partners.
  • Collaborate with leaders in design, product management, and technology to implement operational standards, ensuring speed to market, customer impact, and strong design ROI.
  • Serve as an influential advocate for user experience and brand design across the organization, maintaining a focus on delivering optimal customer experiences and advancing the creative voice of our studio.

Additional Job Description

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience creating brand experiences, user interfaces, connected products, or complex software applications across diverse channels.
  • 5+ years of direct management experience with creative or design teams-automotive experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Design or a related discipline.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful connected products or experiences at enterprise scale.
  • Mastery in creative execution, interaction/interface design, software development methodologies, and product development lifecycles.
  • Exceptional portfolio showcasing interface design expertise, creativity, and depth of thought.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design rationale and present to diverse audiences, including senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence, and negotiate effectively with cross-functional and executive stakeholders.

Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
  • The salary range for this role is $ 219,000.00 - $336,200.00 USD Annual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
