What You Will Do
Sigma Division is a unique facility that works in both fundamental and applied materials research, materials processing development, and metallurgical applications of new technologies. In an effort to support the technical work within Sigma, the Division Office is seeking a Science and Engineering Program Manager 1/2 to fill an important role in supporting the NA-192.6 (Critical Supplier) program.
Working in partnership with the lead Program Manager in the development, deployment and tracking of the many projects within the Critical Supplier Program, the Science and Engineering Program Manager 1/2 will be responsible for coordinating with line managers at LANL and various other organizations, within and external to LANL, to develop, monitor, and report projects status to senior management, and/or NNSA.
This position will be filled at the Technical Program Manager 1 or Technical Program Manager 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Science/Engineering Program Manager 1: $94,500 - $154,600

Program Management: Working knowledge of and experience in program management of technical work, including the development of program work scope, schedules, priorities, budget(s) and performance milestones, identifying and managing risks (threats and opportunities), reporting schedule variance and defining and tracking associated schedule variance corrective actions to closure.
Portfolio Management: Entry level knowledge of the NA-19 (Office of Production Modernization and Materials Management) and NA-12 (Office of Stockpile Management) based programs or demonstrated experience in program management within a technical organization.
Technical Knowledge: Ability to develop technical working knowledge of materials processing and manufacturing technologies.
Finance: Experience in managing and communicating cost and schedule commitments for moderately complex projects.
Leading Teams and Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and cultivate strong teaming culture across all levels of technical and programmatic staff.
Communication: Demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal, presentation, and written skills; demonstrated by successful relationship building, creating presentations and reports, and nurturing effective working relationships with internal and external customers.

Education/Experience
Science/Engineering Program Manager 1: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a science, engineering or related field, from an accredited institution and 2 years of directly related technical and program management experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and technical experience directly related to the occupation.
Science/Engineering Program Manager 2: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a science, engineering or related field, from an accredited institution and 5 years of directly related technical and program management experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and technical experience directly related to the occupation.

- Manages the assigned program within NA-192.6 through ongoing day-to-day coordination with team, group, division leaders and senior management.
- Interacts with internal personnel, LANL programmatic organizations, LANL subcontractors (TechSource), and with NNSA sites (Y-12, LLNL) and with NNSA NA-19/NA-11/NA-12 representatives to develop and provide project requirements, estimates, monitor costs and status reporting.
- Works closely with the Sigma management team and other LANL management organizations, as necessary, to monitor project performance against budget, scope, and schedule identifying deviations from project plans and continuously coordinate with LANL line managers for the implementation of corrective action(s).
- Assists in the development of the strategic and resource plans, project scope and budget proposals, FYNSP, NNSA quarterly and annual reviews, NNSA milestone reporting, etc., consistent with NNSA and LANL Senior Management direction.
- Assists, develop and monitor projects directly related to the NA-192.6 CSP Program.

- Independently provides leadership, vision, strategic, and tactical planning for execution of the NA-192.6 CSP Program.
- Serves as the Laboratory's contractual agent, with authority to negotiate with the internal and external customer(s) and define work scope, schedules, budgets, and funding for programmatic work, priorities, and performance milestones.
- Applies knowledge and experience to develop an execution/implementation plan that covers the programmatic work from conception to completion.
- Integrates moderately complex program work with other Laboratory priorities and commitments, including safety, security, environmental compliance, quality, contractor assurance, and business imperatives.
