Position Summary:
The Nuclear BWR Reactor Services Technician (RST) provides technical and hands-on support for specialized reactor services activities during refueling outages, maintenance campaigns, and planned shutdowns of Boiling Water Reactors (BWR). The RST is responsible for assisting in the setup, operation, and maintenance of remote tooling, robotic systems, and equipment used to perform inspections, repairs, and modifications within the reactor vessel and associated systems.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the planning, setup, and execution of reactor services activities during BWR outages.
  • Operate and maintain specialized reactor service tools, including remote handling equipment, cameras, and robotic systems.
  • Assist with installation and removal of refueling equipment, in-vessel tooling, and inspection devices.
  • Follow detailed procedures and work instructions to perform reactor disassembly, maintenance, and reassembly tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, radiation protection, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Collect, record, and report technical data related to inspections, equipment performance, and reactor conditions.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of equipment or process issues during outage operations.
  • Maintain tooling and equipment in a state of readiness for deployment.
  • Work collaboratively with reactor engineering, radiation protection, and outage management teams.
  • Adhere to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles for radiation exposure.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in mechanical, nuclear, or electrical field preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in nuclear power plant maintenance, reactor services, refueling, or outage support preferred. BWR experience highly desirable.
  • Certifications: Nuclear site access and radiation worker qualifications (may be obtained during onboarding).
  • Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to follow complex procedures with precision and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in radiological environments under strict safety protocols.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to nuclear plant sites during outage seasons.
Work Environment:
  • Position requires working in confined spaces and radiological areas.
  • Outage-based schedule: long hours, shift work, nights, weekends, and extended travel.
  • Must meet all nuclear industry fitness-for-duty and background requirements.
