Job Summary:
We re seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our team in Fort Meade, MD. This individual will play a key role in designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining complex network systems while ensuring the highest levels of security and performance. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network architecture and engineering, combined with the ability to troubleshoot and support network systems in a high-security environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- 10+ years of experience with a Master's degree (MA)
- 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree (BA)
- 14+ years of experience with an Associate's degree (AA)
- 16+ years of experience without a degree
- Certifications: IAT Level 2 certification required
- Clearance: Must hold an active Top Secret (TS) clearance, with SCI eligibility to be obtained
Core Responsibilities:
- Network Design & Planning
- Develop network blueprints based on business needs, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Plan for network growth and future technological advancements.
- Installation & Configuration
- Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Configure network hardware and software to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitoring & Maintenance
- Continuously monitor network performance and uptime.
- Perform regular system maintenance and updates to ensure high availability.
- Utilize tools such as Nagios, SolarWinds, and Wireshark to monitor and troubleshoot network issues.
- Troubleshooting & Support
- Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity and performance issues.
- Provide technical support and guidance on network-related challenges.
- Security Management
- Implement, manage, and troubleshoot firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive network diagrams, configurations, and documentation.
- Report regularly on network performance, incidents, and improvements.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Expertise in network protocols, routing, and switching
- Strong understanding of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS systems
- Proficient with network monitoring tools like Nagios, SolarWinds, and Wireshark
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
