Test & Evaluation Engineer - Propulsion and Fluid Systems (Experienced or Senior)

The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) organization is seeking a Test & Evaluation Engineer - Propulsion and Fluid Systems to join our team in El Segundo, CA.

This role will conduct testing and reviewing the operations of the satellite, including fluid and gas pressure systems and hazardous operations. This role typically requires approximately 25% travel, foreign and domestic.

BT&E is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior level Test & Evaluation Engineers.

Position Responsibilities Include:
  • Support the development and verification of test methods
  • Develop detailed test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition, needed to perform the test and minimize risk within the constraints of the test plan
  • Develop solutions to calibration systems problems of limited scope and impact
  • Design test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements
  • Use analytical tools to verify the design
  • Analyze, process, and format data to customer requirements
  • Review test data, including off-nominal data, for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer
  • Prepare and publish test reports to document test results and satisfy requirements
  • Present test results internally
  • Archive data and reports
  • Train others
  • Work under general direction

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 3+ years of experience performing propulsion testing in any of the following regimes: propulsion systems, pressure and fluid systems, and vacuum systems
  • 3+ years of experience creating and documenting test plans/procedures, executing tests, analyzing results, and/or creating test reports
  • 3+ years of experience in project management and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to pass an annual propellant and Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE) physical and training for both category I and IV SCAPE operations
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time both domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI with Poly Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
  • Experienced understanding of rocket propulsion concepts (e.g., solid, cryogenic, storable, electrical, hybrid, combined cycle) and rocket propulsion system features (e.g., feed, venting, loading, pressure and thermal control, purging, material compatibility, storage, slosh, fluid management, quantity measurement and indication)
  • Support equipment design and fabrication in the Propulsion Test Lab, in factory testing of satellite propulsion systems, and propellant loading at launch sites
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience with fluid systems and related components (e.g.: pumps, flex hoses, filters, valves)
  • Strong Communication skills

Summary pay range for experienced level: $102,000 - $138,000

Summary pay range for senior level: $121,550 - $164,450
