The primary purpose of this position is to support the 96th Test Wing through deployment and sustainment of robust operation capabilities, programs and services.

Help

  • Performs Information Technology Asset Management for Eglin Air Force Base.
  • Operates the Central Receiving Function for the receipt and delivery of IT equipment.
  • Performs as Base Software License Manager.
  • Provides customer support, assistance, training, and orientation.

  • This is a cybersecurity position within the DoD Cyberspace Workforce Framework (DCWF); the employee will be fully qualified in accordance with DoDD 8140.01, DoDI 8140.02, and DoDM 8140.03.
  • Employee will be required to possess a valid operator's license to drive a motor vehicle. Must be capable of operating a forklift
  • Employee will occasionally be exposed to conditions that may be uncomfortable in a warehouse environment with no temperature controls.
  • Employee will be required to perform additional duties as assigned by the Branch Chief, Flight Chief or Commander.
  • Recall to duty may be a requirement of this position. overtime and/or emergency overtime may be required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, must be able to lift at least 40 pounds
  • Work will require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and to attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site.
  • Some work areas are adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. Occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in a warehouse environment .

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series 2210 located here.

This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year or will have one year within 120 days of closing of this announcement, at the next lower grade GS-04, or nh-01 equivalent in other pay system. General experience in assisting with base level accountability of sensitive information technology equipment and asset management operations and support of the installation's information technology equipment, computers, network equipment and all other IT equipment assets; assisting with the receiving, acceptance, distribution and accountability of all IT assets; assisting as a base software license manager; providing management assistance and consultation on processes; establishes procedures. The experience must demonstrate each of the following four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail, 2) Customer Service, 3) Oral Communication, 4) Problem solving."

EDUCATION:
Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the following fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Must submit all relevant transcripts.

Ideal Candidate (statement is placed within the announcement):

  • Experience in Information Technology field, information technology asset management
  • Knowledge of Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM)
  • Knowledge of Information Technology equipment, ITAM use and application
  • Experience operating a warehouse and a central receiving function
  • Possesses a working knowledge of the Enterprise Logistics Management System (ELMS).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge and skill in the interpretation and application of DoD, Joint, and AF management principles, concepts, methodologies and ITAM directives, procedures, guidance, and policy.

2. Knowledge of IT hardware and software and its application and use throughout the various missions and organizations.

3. Knowledge of the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) to receive, add, transfer and excess IT assets; to manage account information to include equipment custodians, office symbols, active and inactive accounts and inventory status.

4. Knowledge of ITAM inventory procedures and ability to prepare inventory reports.

5. Skill in providing advice and technical guidance to representatives from installation organizations.

6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from other through tact, courtesy, diplomacy and competency.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
