Senior Cloud Network Security SME

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Cloud Network Security SME in Pleasanton, CA that can sit fully remote PST. This is a 6-12 month contract role with potential conversion down the line.

Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Network Security SME that brings deep expertise in multi-cloud networking and security, with a strong focus on Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and/or OCI environments. The Senior Cloud Network Security SME will play a key role in designing, securing, and supporting complex network infrastructures across hybrid and cloud-native environments. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with core routing and switching (including heavy BGP), security platforms like Palo Alto and Fortinet, and enterprise networking tools such as Meraki. A strong understanding of SQN (Secure Quality Networking), expert-level Azure networking, and Visio diagramming skills are essential.

Responsibilities:
* Design, implement, and support cloud-based network security architectures across Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and OCI platforms
* Manage and optimize core routing and switching environments, with emphasis on BGP and enterprise-grade protocols
* Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls, Panorama, and create/review security policies
* Collaborate with cloud security architects and DevOps teams to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performing infrastructure
* Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams using Visio
* Provide expert-level support and recommendations for Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, and related networking tools
* Conduct risk assessments, security reviews, and gap analysis across cloud environments
* Stay up to date on the latest trends, vulnerabilities, and innovations in cloud and network security

REQUIREMENTS:
* Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Network Engineer Associate, PCNSE, CCNP, Fortinet NSE) preferred
* 8+ years of experience in networking and network security
* Expert-level knowledge of Azure networking (VNETs, NSGs, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, Load Balancing, etc.)
* Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform and/or OCI networking services is a plus
* Deep understanding of core R&S concepts, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and subnetting
* Strong expertise with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama
* Familiarity with Fortinet firewalls and Cisco Meraki solutions
* Experience with Secure Quality Networking (SQN) concepts
* Proficiency in network diagramming and documentation using Microsoft Visio
* Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
