Job Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for improving production line processes within a large manufacturing organization. This role focuses on simplifying operations, increasing efficiency, and supporting ongoing continuous improvement efforts. The position collaborates closely with automation, process, quality, and maintenance teams to drive safe, reliable, and high-performance production results.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement production process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency while reducing variable costs.
Develop project plans and provide technical input for short- and medium-term engineering initiatives and capital/expense projects.
Apply cost controls and sound engineering judgment to ensure timely and efficient project execution.
Partner with maintenance and production teams to develop operational and maintenance procedures that optimize equipment performance.
Use QIP, SPC, and related methodologies for process design, vendor specifications, and continuous improvement activities.
Ensure that safety, health, and environmental standards are incorporated into all process engineering activities.
Train and support production staff to follow established processes and best practices.
Investigate production issues, track work orders, and update work instructions as improvements are identified.
Participate in daily GEMBA walks to understand production challenges and improvement opportunities.
Perform additional tasks as needed to support plant performance and engineering initiatives.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, or related field.
3 5 years of production or process engineering experience.
Automotive manufacturing experience preferred; automotive glass experience required.

Special Requirements

Availability to support the plant during off-hours when urgent issues arise.
Familiarity with SPC, QIP, process troubleshooting, and continuous improvement tools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment capability.
Knowledge of process control systems, root-cause analysis, and data-driven problem solving.
Ability to create, interpret, and update technical documentation.
Excellent analytical, technical, and critical-thinking skills.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Proficiency with common engineering software and manufacturing systems.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Additional Desired Characteristics

Experience in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing.
Exposure to capital project development or execution.
Lean or Six Sigma experience is beneficial but not required.

Work Environment

Position is based in a manufacturing plant environment.
Requires flexibility to support off-shift or emergency operational needs.
On-site role with regular time spent on the production floor.
