Data Engineer / Specialist at Leidos

Why You'll Love This Role

Leidos is on a mission to transform mission-critical data into dynamic insights. You'll architect an open-platform that ingests and integrates Big Data, delivering living documents that update in real time and unlock transformational intelligence. Your work will empower Air Force and Joint operations by embedding AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning into enterprise datasets-fueling faster, smarter decisions across the full spectrum of military operations.

What You'll Do
  • Design and build an open architecture platform to collect, integrate, and visualize ISR and intelligence datasets.
  • Develop applications for the Air Force Targeting Center to automate collection, analysis, and dissemination of targeting data.
  • Apply data mining, statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and AI/ML techniques to build high-quality forecasting and recommendation engines.
  • Enhance cross-domain access, interoperability, and timeliness of ISR data processing across AF, Joint, and DoD networks.
  • Collaborate closely with AFTC project managers, system engineers, SMEs, and other developers to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
  • Leverage Docker, AWS, OpenShift, R, Python, and SQL to manage, merge, and analyze disparate structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Create dynamic visualizations and living documents using Power BI, Tableau, and custom graphical applications.
  • Support subordinate ACC units by mapping people, operations, and technology into object-oriented frameworks that maximize analyst productivity.
  • Drive innovation by fielding information-centric decision-making technologies, including hyperspectral image analysis and advanced analytics tools.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 + years (or Master's and 10 + years) of related experience; years of experience and advanced certifications may substitute for a degree.
  • Deep expertise in data science languages (R, Python) and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Proven track record with large-scale Multi-INT analytics, automated predictive analytics, and AI/ML in DoD or IC environments.
  • Hands-on experience with JTT applications, hyperspectral image processing, and open-architecture big data solutions.
  • Broad R&D exposure supporting AF, DTRA, Joint operations, and integration of enterprise COTS into government networks.
  • Active Top Secret SCI clearance required.
