Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Director to lead the global strategy and execution of Enterprise Observability and Technology Resiliency & Recoverability across Marriott's global technology landscape. This leader will drive architecture, implementation, and continuous improvement of mission-critical platforms spanning cloud-native environments, hybrid workloads, and global operations. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, proven leadership, and an unwavering focus on operational excellence.

We are looking for a technical architect / engineer that can create technology solutions and lead technology teams, not a people manager of tech engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Technical Leadership

Define and execute a comprehensive vision for observability, infrastructure resiliency, and disaster recovery at enterprise scale

Lead engineering and architecture functions for cross-functional teams across observability and resiliency domains

Design and champion enterprise-wide standards, tooling, and frameworks to improve visibility, prevent outages, and ensure recoverability

Architect and operationalize observability solutions across AWS, Azure, Alibaba, and hybrid cloud workloads

Team & Culture Leadership

Lead, mentor, and grow two high-performing technical teams across specialized domains

Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and engineering craftsmanship

Guide performance reviews, team growth plans, and recruitment strategies to scale expertise

Empower team autonomy while ensuring enterprise alignment across engineering initiatives

Program Execution & Delivery

Act as Technical Product Owner and Program Manager for critical observability and DR initiatives

Drive cloud migration and virtualization strategies-including alternative hypervisor adoption (OLVM)-within enterprise constraints

Advance pilot deployments into sustainable, resilient platforms with repeatable success patterns

Maintain effective partnerships across Finance, Legal, TBM, and Continent teams to advocate for technical feasibility

Domain Expertise

Observability

Design and scale enterprise observability strategy including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting across hundreds of workloads

Lead implementation of platforms like Dynatrace, Grail, Splunk Cloud, Cribl, ThousandEyes, and more

Define observability baselines and SLIs/SLOs to support distributed service health monitoring

Enable data ingestion and visualization at scale, collaborating with SREs to foster proactive remediation

Resiliency & Recoverability

Implement robust, cloud-native strategies for workload resiliency and recoverability

Evolve DR posture from compliance-driven to mission-critical readiness

Lead DR drills, risk assessments, and response automation for continuous preparedness

Enable infrastructure and application recoverability for distributed and mission-critical systems

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

10+ years in technical leadership, engineering, and operations

Deep experience in:

Multi-cloud observability and logging infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Alibaba)

Modern DR strategies with automated failover/failback architecture

SRE and DevOps principles, monitoring frameworks, and root cause diagnostics

Proven ability to navigate financial and organizational constraints to deliver impactful results

Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence technical and executive audiences

Preferred

Hands-on experience with Dynatrace, Grail, and integration platforms such as Harness, ServiceNow, and BigPanda

Background in digital transformation, consulting, or enterprise modernization

Agile or Kanban delivery expertise in global, fast-paced environments
