job summary:

The Senior Business Analyst - IT & Process Improvement will support critical SAP initiatives for a Randstad client in Washington, DC, bridging the gap between business needs and IT solutions. This role is responsible for gathering and documenting business requirements, mapping business processes (especially those aligned to SAP systems), managing project artifacts, and supporting testing and validation efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SAP environments, experience with Agile delivery frameworks, and the ability to work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to drive operational excellence and digital transformation initiatives.

responsibilities:


  • Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and technical requirements, with a focus on SAP-related processes.
  • Map and optimize business processes using BPMN or swim lane diagramming techniques, especially in SAP modules such as FI/CO, FM/GM, or similar.
  • Interface between business units and SAP technical teams to ensure alignment and clarity on project goals and system functionality.
  • Develop user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, and related project documentation.
  • Create and maintain project artifacts following the Project Life Cycle Management (PLM) methodology.
  • Support SAP testing efforts, including the creation of test scripts, management of user acceptance testing (UAT), and documentation of test results.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with internal controls, project governance standards, and quality assurance practices.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within SAP and related business processes and recommend actionable enhancements.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communications across IT and business units to ensure successful project delivery and solution adoption.


qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, Systems Engineering, or a related field (required).
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst.
  • 3+ years of direct experience supporting SAP projects (SAP FI/CO, FM/GM, or related modules preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience with JIRA and HP Quality Center (or equivalent testing and collaboration tools).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with business process mapping and modeling (BPMN preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including SCRUM and/or SAFe frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience creating PLM (Project Life Cycle Management) artifacts or similar SDLC documentation.
  • Business Analysis certification preferred (CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies (preferred).
