Join our Cybersecurity and Digital Risk (CDR) team to help us also lead the airline industry in cyber-safety. United's CDR team is tasked with keeping our customers' and employees' information safe and secure. Our primary mission is to embed cybersecurity into the DNA of United Airlines by reducing business risk through implementation of strong cybersecurity standards.
Job overview and responsibilities
The Data Protection Analyst plays a supportive role in the development, execution, and enhancement of the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program strategy, working closely with cross-functional teams. The primary focus of this role is to assist in reducing the enterprise attack surface, support governance efforts, and help establish processes to identify and address gaps within the environment. As a vital member of the cybersecurity team, the Data Protection Analyst aids in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational risk practices, and evolving business needs. This position involves collaborating with various teams to promote a culture of data protection and risk mitigation, contributing to impactful solutions across the organization.

- DLP Program Support
- Assist in the execution of the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program strategy, collaborating with Legal, HR, Business, Digital Technology, and Cybersecurity teams
- Governance and Policy Assistance
- Support the strengthening of governance by helping update policies, define sensitive information types, and create clear data handling guidelines for employees
- Risk Assessment Contribution
- Aid in designing and implementing a risk assessment framework targeting egress vectors to identify and mitigate risks effectively
- Tool Implementation Support
- Assist in deploying DLP tools to prevent data exfiltration, establish defect management processes, and mitigate risks associated with sensitive data movement
- Workforce Enablement
- Provide support in equipping employees with tools and solutions to protect data, ensuring controls focus on the secure movement of sensitive information types
- Compliance and Collaboration
- Help ensure business strategies, plans, and initiatives comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years in STEM-related field or successful completion of the Cyber Rotational Program / Early Career Digital Leadership Program
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in using DLP tools and technologies
- Excellent communication skills
- Capability to support governance efforts by helping update policies and define sensitive information types
- Competence in contributing to risk assessment frameworks and identifying potential data security risks
- Ability to support the deployment of DLP tools and manage defect processes to mitigate data movement risks
- Capacity to aid in workforce enablement by providing tools and solutions for secure data handling
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- CISA, Security +
- Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security
- Knowledge of security engineering and architecture concepts
- Interpret patterns of noncompliance to determine their impact on levels of risk and/or overall effectiveness of the enterprise's cybersecurity program
- Hands on experience with Data Loss Prevention vendors, tools, and products capabilities
