Job Description:
Apex Systems is seeking a highly skilled systems engineer to lead the planning, design, development, and verification of complex systems and system-of-systems solutions. This role requires a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to ensure lifecycle-balanced architectures that meet customer and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply systems engineering principles to define and coordinate system performance requirements.
- Integrate technical parameters and ensure compatibility across all physical, functional, and program interfaces.
- Conduct analyses to optimize system architecture for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory compliance, certification, and product assurance.
- Lead requirements management processes including planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring using appropriate tools.
- Manage risk, issues, opportunities, and assess technology readiness.
- Resolve cross-functional technical issues and support integration and verification activities.
- Review system-level requirements in IBM DOORS to ensure traceability and completeness.
- Review test directives and ensure alignment with verification objectives.
- Develop and coordinate a comprehensive test philosophy to meet verification criteria, including collaboration with customers.
- Create data analysis plans to support test evaluation and verification.
- Assess lower-tier testing to define Tier 1 system-level testing requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Computer Science with %+ years of related work experience
- Strong systems thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with DOORS, verification compliance documentation, and test planning.
- Proven ability to collaborate across technical teams and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 9+ years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Expertise in ICD development, logical architecture, requirements and specification development, and SSOW creation.
- Proficiency in requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS).
- Experience in verification & validation, risk and opportunity management.
- Hands-on experience in systems integration and testing (lab, ground, and flight).
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring of engineering teams.
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
- This position requires the ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance for which the US Government requires ship.
