Job Details

Title: Application Support Specialist
Location: Montreal 3 days/week on site (mandatory)
Duration: 12 months 40 hours/week
Job description:
Provide proactive and reactive support to one of the business team and its clients whilst working closely with development and product management teams.
The candidate is also expected to contribute to and lead projects.
He/She will also have the opportunity to be involved in on-boarding applications into the production environment and working with the global teams on transformational projects. Opportunities to build cross-organizational relationships through leading projects on behalf of the team.
Job Responsibilities include:
  • Advanced knowledge of Fixed Income trading system.
  • Incident management business and technology communication, coordination and resolution of incidents, from external issues such as exchange problems to internal application bugs impacting the production environment
  • Problem management Post incident review ensuring that the issue has been permanently resolved and what value add items can be completed to ensure the issue does not reoccur
  • Investigations into order behavior with queries directly from the business
  • Technical queries and compliance/audit reporting
  • Compilation of trade data for business requestors
  • Morning/Evening checks in conjunction with offshore teams ensuring system readiness for the start of the trading day
  • Monitoring use and continual improvement to the main monitoring tool
  • Release management being the gatekeepers for the production environment, ensuring all change is understood and scheduled appropriately
  • Project Works (Obsolescence and Data Center migration)
Job Requirements:
The candidate must have the following qualifications:
Important * Unix, SQL, Network
  • Strong UNIX and Windows server OS knowledge.
  • Strong Networking knowledge.
  • Strong TIBCO RV knowledge
  • Strong Dynatrace/Geneos knowledge
  • Jenkins and Ansible knowledge
  • Windows and UNIX (and GUI) application support, use of SQL for data gathering and reporting
  • Strong problem ownership skills and attitude
  • Strong Shell and Python scripting and process automation
  • Experience in ECN's, Smart Order Routers, networking, market data, and application configuration.
  • Trading system knowledge down to order flow and order book level at a technical level
  • Bilingual or English speaker.
Nice to have:
  • Cloud knowledge (added advantage)
Qualifications: Experience in an application support role in a dynamic environment is a necessity for this role; there is often a great deal of urgency associated with resolving incidents and candidates need to be able to prioritize proactively when resource conflicts arise. Strong technical knowledge in the disciplines mentioned below are a pre-requisite, as well as excellent analytical reasoning and practical decision making, combined with an ability to communicate across a broad range of business functions and at all levels of the organization.
  • Temperament to work under pressure in a fast-moving production environment
  • Good communication skills ability to liaise with both Business and IT users in a clear manner
