Job Description:
  • Serves as the project's primary expert on cultural resources and historic preservation, with full responsibility for Section 106 compliance activities. This role combines archaeological/historic site evaluation with regulatory advisory duties across federal, tribal, and state contexts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all Section 106 compliance tasks, including initiation, identification, evaluation, consultation, and mitigation. Guiding the project team and ensuring consistent compliance with NHPA regulations and agency procedures
  • Conduct archaeological/historic property evaluations, background research, and field surveys.
  • Prepare reports and documentation consistent with Section 106 review requirements.
  • Coordinate with SHPOs, Tribal Historic Preservation Offices (THPOs), and federal stakeholders.
  • Support consultation and mitigation planning processes.
  • Conduct and oversee archaeological field investigations, archival research, and historic property assessments.
  • Prepare documentation, including Determinations of Eligibility, Effects Assessments, and Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs).

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Historic Preservation, or related discipline.
  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or Historic Preservation.
  • Meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards (36 CFR Part 61).
  • 7+ years of relevant experience with Section 106 reviews for federal undertakings.
  • Proven track record coordinating with federal preservation officers, SHPOs, and Tribal representatives.
  • Familiarity with NEPA-Section 106 integration and cultural resource management systems.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools and cultural resource databases.
