Job overview and responsibilities

The Engineer - Identity Access Management (IAM) is a technical professional with a solid understanding of IAM principles, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the IAM systems within United Airlines. This position will actively contribute to IAM initiative through performing hands-on configuration, troubleshooting, and user access management tasks, ensuring secure and efficient access to critical systems and data.

The technology focus for this role will be on the implementation and support of United's Identity Governance and Administration platform. This position will work in collaboration with other IT team Architects, engineers, and stakeholders to design, build, and deploy connectors across a variety of technologies both on prem and in the cloud.

This individual will work both independently and collaboratively to build and maintain identity management solutions that meet organizational needs. They will exhibit a high degree of self-motivation as well as possessing excellent communication, documentation and relationship building skills.

  • Assists in providing support for the implementation, configuration, and administration of IAM platforms through the development of connectors between IGA solution and target applications
  • Provides support in responding to break/fix requests monitoring the environment, supporting Digital Technology in change management processes for development, QA, and production environments
  • Respond to Level 1 tickets including bugs, outages, and new feature requests
  • Ensures IAM solutions adhere to regulatory, compliance, and internal requirements
  • Assist in the maintenance of IAM policies, standards, and procedures
  • Provide reports as requested for compliance
  • Ensure IAM program is aligned with the overall security strategy to reduce risk to the organization by following policy and procedures for identity and access management for multiple applications while also maintaining comprehensive documentation of IAM policies, procedures, and configurations
  • Implement role-based access controls (RBAC), least privilege, and Segregation of Duty principles to manager user permissions effectively
  • Collaborate with other IAM team members seeking guidance on IAM related matters and contributing to system support
  • Provide a high level of technical support of platform and product designs and collaborate with cross-functional team (Stakholders/Collaborators) to assure the successful deployment of controls for integrated applications

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Understanding of Enterprise Identity & Access Management core concepts, with a specialization in Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) Compliance requirements
  • Extensive working knowledge of IGA concepts and best practices including application onboarding, user access reviews and Identity Lifecycle Management
  • Demonstrate an ability to translate and communicate complex compliance and technical requirements to both IT and Business users
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve business outcomes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to gather relevant data and information
  • Can effectively verbalize ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent organization, problem resolution, and technical documentation skills
  • Strong team player that builds trust within the team and effective relationships with stakeholders across the organization
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
