The Surface Team builds powerful devices that fully express the Windows vision, enable the experiences people want, and elicit their excitement. Creating these devices involves a close partnership between Hardware and Software Engineers, Designers, Program Managers, and Manufacturing. The Surface Motherboard Team is hiring an Electrical Engineer to help build the next generation of Surface!

As an Electrical Engineer on the Surface Quality Design Verification System Engineering (DVSE) team, you would get the opportunity to create and execute on various aspects of Motherboard design validation solutions across the Surface devices portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in reviewing verification plans to identify the appropriate test equipment for measuring a feature or product, relying on guidance from other engineers. Begins to collaborate with other stakeholders under supervision to gain understanding of test strategies and constraints.
  • Helps with setting up and breaking down testing environments with guidance from other engineers. Follows safety guidelines.
  • Assists with analysis and interpretation of results from data and data/statistical analyses to identify common problems or flaws that may affect a feature or product design change and brings them to the attention of other engineers or team leads.
  • Assists in the development of prototype components for use in validation of new product features under guidance from other engineers.
  • Supports the data collection process for external testing supplier or partner selection options, under supervision.
  • Contributes to the development of automated testing solutions and supports automated testing on standard feature areas or products, under supervision.
  • Develops basic knowledge of industry trends, competitor products, customer experience, and advances in various engineering fields. Seeking guidance from other engineers to help understand and apply advanced concepts.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with test equipment, such as oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with designing/testing low data rate interfaces such as I2C, SPI, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in one or more of the following languages C/C++/C#, Python, PowerShell, JSON, MATLAB.
  • Experience with designing/testing hi-speed interfaces such as USB3.2
Electrical Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
