Job Summary

General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world's leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS' expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.

We are currently hiring a Senior Systems Engineer for Digital Receiver/Exciter Technology who will be a key member within the GA-EMS Radar Technologies department. In this capacity, the Senior Systems Engineer will execute requirements development, design, integration and test activities to enable new digital receiver/exciter capabilities. The Senior Systems Engineer will report into the Senior Manager of Architecture and Systems Engineering within the Radar Technologies group.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Derive receiver/exciter system requirements from mission level needs
  • Perform system analysis and trade studies, develop new architectures and algorithms, and generate subsystem requirements in coordination with RF design and signal processing engineers
  • Perform waveform design including waveform type, modulation, bandwidths, and sample rates
  • Perform system design for receiver including RF/IF pre-select filtering, downconversion/mixing, analog-to-digital (A/D) conversion, and receiver digital processing
  • Perform system design for exciter including waveform generation, digital exciter, digital-to-analog (D/A) conversion, and RF/IF filtering for post-select
  • Perform digital receiver/exciter calibration design for distributed systems
  • Develop simulations in Python, Matlab, or C/C++ to model receiver/exciter performance and generate test data to validate hardware (HW), software (SW), and firmware (FW) implementations
  • Collaborate with HW engineering to select A/D and D/A solutions
  • Collaborate with HW and SW engineering to define network and processing needs, and system architecture including synchronization and calibration
  • As a member of a multi-disciplinary SE/SW/HW team, collaborate on backlog planning, implementation approach, and integration and test plans
  • Perform test planning and test execution including to validate component, subsystem, and system requirements and performance

We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.
