The IT Business Analyst II, under general supervision, performs complex and specialized business analysis support functions, such as data analysis, troubleshooting, research, and problem solving. As a team member of the Technology Services - Mays you will assist with end-users and shared services support groups to analyze, implement, and improve business processes in Mays Business School.

What you need to know

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of related experience in business analysis


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Knowledge of intermediate process analysis, troubleshooting, problem solving, client relations, requirement assessment and analysis, and project management methodology
  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing Laserfiche or other applicable business process software workflows and forms
  • Experience in analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions and in data visualization techniques and tools. Tableau, Power BI, etc.
  • Certified in PPM and ITIL Foundations
  • Cross-disciplined IT skills, advanced IT skills, report writing skills, intermediate troubleshooting, formulating and contributing ideas, and knowledge of ITIL
  • Master's degree


Responsibilities:

Process analysis and development - Assists distributed IT team (Technology Services - Mays) by performing functional analysis tasks. Research and translate shared service offerings into business process improvements.

Assists in the identification of gaps between current use of software and the end-users' needs. Determines the most effective method for bridging the identified gaps. Configures applicable business productivity tools to increase effectiveness. Works with the various shared service groups on the implementation of services consumed by Mays Business School. Understands, researches, and interprets functional requirements and regulations, and formulates processes to meet these requirements and regulations. Take business process needs and translate those into appropriate business process software such as Laserfiche or Office365 suite and workflows and form development.

Liaison Support - Builds and maintains a working business relationship between Technology Services customers and employees, based on understanding the customer and their business needs. Serves as a point of contact for routing complex professional inquiries and requests from customers. Assists IT staff with end user interaction, creation of functional requirements, and testing of process changes. Collaborate with various teams and users to ensure the software systems meet critical business requirements and standardize processes as much as possible. Uses documentation software to document business processes and testing plans.

Documentation - Help document current business process and prepares business/technical requirements for new or existing individual applications or module functions.

Documents business requirements and creates detailed functional and technical system specifications. Coordinates, reviews, and approves documentation for multiple functional areas, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Disaster Recovery Plans, Operational Notebooks, Asset Inventory, and other documents and records required for audit and compliance. Develops end user documentation and training materials on how to use supported applications. Uses documentation software to document Technology Services - Mays functional processes.

Troubleshooting and problem resolution - Researches and resolves issues reported by end-users.

Professional Development - Participates in training and professional development sessions.

Product Coordination - Keep Technical Team Lead and team members informed of changes and project status. Establish timelines and progress milestones for implementing progress modifications. At the discretion of the Leadership, acts as a project manager or otherwise assist in the management of major or other projects within the functional groups Networking, Telecommunications, Facilities and Operations
