Senior System Engineer

Location: Bensalem, PA
Salary: $100,000.00 USD Annually - $120,000.00 USD Annually
Description: Our client is currently seeking a Senior System Engineer
This position is will be fully onsite in Bensalem for the first 90 days and then can move to hybrid - must be able to commute to Bensalem, PA.
Major Responsibilities

• Lead and train employees on technical projects and initiatives.
• Manage and execute system implementation projects in collaboration with team members.
• Administer and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Manage Windows Server infrastructure including Print Services, GPO, AD Sites and Services, DHCP, DNS, IIS, and system monitoring.
• Build and maintain OS templates for production and non-production environments following standardized documentation.
• Provide application support for:
  • Microsoft Exchange: Admin functions, connectors, relays, policies, Edge/HUB roles.
  • SharePoint: Site creation, patching, indexing, and migrations.
  • Certificate Services (ADCS): Certificate structure, hierarchy, and lifecycle.
  • IIS and Apache: App Pools, HTTPS, HSTS configuration.
  • SCCM/MECM: Configuration, reporting, AV, policy pushes, asset inventory, and server migrations.
• Configure and manage DNS and DHCP:
  • DNS: A, PTR, SRV, CNAME, TXT, LDAP, NS records.
  • DHCP: Options 003, 006, 015, 066, 150.
• Remediate vulnerabilities on Windows and Linux servers using CVE-based solutions.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell and Bash scripts, including scheduled tasks and cron jobs.
• Enforce OS standards and maintain documentation.
• Monitor and maintain scheduled jobs and system tasks.
• Implement OS security and hardening practices.
• Provide strategic recommendations for budgeting and business planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to TCP/IP, certificates, SNMP, and AD joins.
• Document systems and network architecture using Visio.
• Analyze compute, storage, and hardware for performance and reliability.
• Support hardware maintenance in collaboration with other teams.
• Coordinate with external contractors when necessary.
• Ensure timely completion of projects aligned with business goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Additional Responsibilities

• Configure and manage ADFS services and farm environments.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors for issue resolution.
• Develop business acumen to effectively interface with user departments.
• Maintain and operate tape libraries.
• Analyze and implement software/hardware changes and vendor patches.
• Communicate the business impact of technical changes to stakeholders.
• Design and implement compute and storage solutions.
• Update IT procedures related to telecom systems and maintenance.
• Create and maintain internal support documentation and runbooks.
• Design high-availability systems and lead incident resolution efforts.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on complex technical projects.
• Align departmental priorities with senior management.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft and/or Linux systems.
• 10+ years of experience with Windows Server OS.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to lead and train teams on technical projects.
• Experience designing and implementing infrastructure solutions.
• Deep understanding of Windows Server roles and features.
• Strong project management and multitasking skills.
• Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Willingness to work on-call and flexible hours, including evenings/weekends.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Visio.
• Ability to follow project plans and meet deadlines.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and telecom systems.
• Attention to detail and adherence to best practices.
• Expertise in SSL/TLS, cryptographic protocols, and cipher suites.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization, networking, and OS internals.
• Experience working with third-party vendors to achieve project goals.
