Position: AS400 Senior Developer
Location: Orlando, FL
Job Type: Long term Contract
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled AS400 Senior Developer to design, develop, and maintain applications on the IBM iSeries (AS400) platform. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in RPG (RPGLE, CLLE), COBOL/400, SQL/400, and DB2, along with strong problem-solving skills and expertise in application modernization and integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain AS400-based applications using RPGLE, CLLE, and COBOL/400.
- Perform enhancements, bug fixes, and optimizations to improve system efficiency.
- Work with DB2/400 databases, writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- Analyze business requirements, provide technical solutions, and document system changes.
- Perform code reviews, unit testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AS400 applications with external systems.
- Provide production support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for AS400 applications.
- Implement AS400 modernization strategies, including migrating legacy applications to newer technologies.
- Develop and maintain CL programs, batch jobs, and data transfer processes.
- Ensure compliance with coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.
- Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and performance optimization initiatives.
- Document technical specifications, user guides, and operational procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in AS400/iSeries development.
- Strong expertise in RPG (RPGLE, RPG/400), CLLE, and COBOL/400.
- Proficiency in DB2/400, SQL/400, and data modeling.
- Hands-on experience with ILE concepts, service programs, and stored procedures.
- Familiarity with job scheduling, message handling, and system performance tuning.
- Experience in modernizing AS400 applications using APIs, web services, or other integration methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in AS400 security and user management.
- Knowledge of integration with third-party tools and ERP systems.
- Familiarity with change management tools like TurnOver or Aldon.
- Exposure to cloud migration strategies for AS400 applications.
