A growing climate-tech startup in Boston is seeking a Data Engineer to join their innovative data team. This company is building a modern, data-driven platform that empowers businesses and communities to track carbon emissions, optimize renewable energy usage, and make smarter sustainability decisions in real time. This is a hybrid full-time role working with Python, SQL, AWS, and scalable data pipelines.

You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams to design systems that power secure, high-performance environmental and sustainability data flows. Required Skills & Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or backend data systems
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, etc.)
  • Proven ability to design and optimize ETL pipelines and data workflows
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing principles and best practices
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Background in sustainability, climate data, or IoT platforms
  • Familiarity with streaming data platforms (Kafka, Kinesis)
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Step Functions)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
What You Will Be Doing
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to process sustainability and energy data
  • Integrate new data sources, including APIs, IoT devices, and streaming platforms
  • Optimize workflows for performance, cost efficiency, and reliability
  • Implement data quality monitoring and alerting systems
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support analytics and product needs
