Job Details

Position: Power BI Developer Contract: W2 Only

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports for enterprise-scale business applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements, analyze data sources, and define reporting objectives and KPIs.
  • Build and optimize end-to-end BI solutions, including data modeling, ETL processes, DAX measures, and performance tuning.
  • Perform advanced data analysis, data validation, and transformation using SQL, Power Query, and other data integration tools.
  • Integrate Power BI solutions with enterprise systems via APIs, cloud services, or batch data pipelines.
  • Conduct report validation, UAT testing, and performance monitoring to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability in production.
  • Use tools like Git, DevOps pipelines, and version control for report lifecycle management and deployments.
  • Work in Agile or hybrid Agile/Waterfall teams, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous delivery practices.
  • Troubleshoot data refresh failures, performance bottlenecks, and visualization issues with a focus on root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Collaborate on BI modernization initiatives using Power BI Service, cloud-native technologies, and scalable reporting infrastructure.

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in business intelligence, data visualization, or data analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, and Power Query (M language).
  • Expertise in designing and optimizing semantic data models and star-schema-based architectures.
  • Proficient in SQL and relational database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, or similar).
  • Experience in building complex measures, KPIs, and advanced visualizations in Power BI.
  • Familiarity with data processing tools and platforms (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or SSIS).
  • Solid understanding of BI solution lifecycle, data governance, and CI/CD for BI.
  • Experience deploying reports and datasets to Power BI Service and managing workspaces, security, and row-level security (RLS).
  • Familiar with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS and services like Synapse, Redshift, or Snowflake.
  • Experience with Git-based workflows, DevOps, and deployment automation.

Nice-to-Have

  • Hands-on experience with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) or other BI tools (Tableau, Qlik).
  • Exposure to big data platforms, data lakes, or modern data warehouses.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, or CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions.
  • Knowledge of data governance, compliance standards, and security best practices.
  • Understanding of real-time reporting and streaming data solutions (Kafka, Event Hub, or similar).
