Summary:

This position is responsible for assessing security infrastructure, network and systems design to evaluate and ensure system/network security. Designs, implements, integrates, configures and tests complex computer and network security solutions to protect and manage the Penn Medicine IT enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies security risks, threats and vulnerabilities of networks, systems, applications and new technology initiatives.
  • Designs, tests, and manages firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise anti-virus systems and software deployment tools/capabilities.
  • Provides complex engineering analysis and support for firewalls, routers, networks and operating systems.
  • Oversees user access process to ensure operational integrity of enterprise security system. Enforces the information security configuration and maintains system for issuing, protecting, changing and revoking accounts and passwords.
  • Performs technical and programmatic assessments, evaluates engineering and integration initiatives and provides technical support to assess security policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Implements, enforces and communicates security policies and/or plans for data, software applications, hardware and telecommunications.
  • Performs complex product evaluations, recommends and implements products/services for information security.
  • Validates and tests complex security architecture and design solutions to produce detailed engineering specifications with recommended vendor technologies.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree. (Required)
  • 4+ years of Information Technology experience. (Required)

Skills/Abilities:

  • Established passion for the information security field
  • Proven listening, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to constructively resolve technical issues and conflicts as they arise.
  • Proven problem analysis skills and articulate communicator of complex technical and business topics with the ability to convert technical security related risk into business terms.
  • Knowledge of security auditing, reverse engineering, penetration testing (e.g. vulnerability scanning, application security testing, penetration testing, etc.)
  • Experience with security system engineering and administrative activities
  • Experience with security system monitoring/response activities (firewalls, IDS/IPS, operating system audit logs, application or database audit logs, etc.) to support protect/defend/respond/recover requirements
  • Knowledge of computer networking, application and operating system security, administration and/or forensics (Windows, Unix/Linux, Macintosh) Knowledge of security incident response planning and execution
  • Continuing awareness of evolving technology threats and vulnerabilities
  • Ability to work within deadlines and with multiple priorities; ability to adapt to changing priorities Orientation to teamwork and achievement of company and departmental goals.
  • Must be able and willing to provide 24x7 support for organizational incidents and event
  • Experience assessing and managing the security of a large IT enterprise
  • Demonstrated independent security growth and development activities within the security community
  • Experience in healthcare and academia
  • Experience assessing and managing the security of a large IT enterprise
