Job Title: Network Technician Entry
Location: Columbia, SC (29201)
Duration: 6 Months
Interview Process: 1st round virtual; possible 2nd round onsite


Job Description

The Network Technician will support and maintain the organization s network infrastructure and Microsoft 365 environment, ensuring reliable connectivity and system access across all critical sites. This role includes routine responsibilities as well as participation in an on-call rotation to support key locations. The focus is on wired and wireless networking, account management, and infrastructure support.


Daily Duties / Responsibilities

< data-start="742" data-end="780">Help Desk & Ticket Management</>
  • Respond to and resolve help desk tickets related to:

    • Wired and wireless network issues

    • Network account onboarding and offboarding via custom scripts

    • Infrastructure-related incidents

< data-start="984" data-end="1017">On-Call Support Rotation</>
  • Level 1 Support: On-call every 3 weeks for critical site support (network outages).

  • Level 2 Support: On-call every 3 weeks (alternating with Level 1) for escalated network issues.

< data-start="1213" data-end="1245">Infrastructure Projects</>
  • Assist with network rollouts, hardware upgrades, and cleanup initiatives.

  • Support planning and execution of infrastructure improvements.

  • Contribute to documentation and inventory management for network assets.

< data-start="1467" data-end="1508">Administrative & Technical Tasks</>
  • Support Microsoft administrative tasks, including:

    • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)

    • User/group provisioning

    • Microsoft 365 administration

  • Assist with server administration:

    • Basic Windows Server maintenance

    • System monitoring and performance tuning

    • Patch management and updates


Required Skills

  • 5 years of experience with Microsoft Entra ID and general Microsoft administration

  • 5 years of experience working with Windows Server environments

  • 10 years of experience troubleshooting wired and wireless networking issues

  • 5+ years responding to help desk tickets through a ticketing system

  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Deskpro or similar ticketing systems

  • Experience with Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy

  • Experience working with RuckBrocade network switches
