HDR is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Atlanta-GA, Raleigh-NC, or Charlotte-NC. Our team is looking for a candidate to meet the needs of our diverse client base including Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Science and Technology, Federal, Industrial, Mission Critical and Commercial clients. We have a team with diverse experience and are actively seeking candidates with experience within one or more of the markets we serve. This individual should also have a desire to mentor and train younger electrical engineers. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading a team and designing projects from start to finish. This will include coordinating and working closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing staff, and all other team members. They will be responsible for developing construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and performing RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation and overall construction administration. Passion, self-motivation, and strong leadership skills are a must to deliver technically excellent design solutions for our clients. On a day-to-day basis, the Senior Electrical Engineer will also be expected to:

Provide detailed designs and coordination of facilities with team member

Prepare construction documents with BIM/CADD platform

Edit and prepare design specification

Review fee estimates, cost opinions, and write technical document

Perform QA/QC review of construction documents and technical report

Select equipment using vendor software and communicate with sales rep

Track and meet design budget

Perform load calculation

Attend and lead design meetings with other team member

Provide construction administration service throughout all phases of construction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with designing lighting and electrical systems for various types of buildings including one or more of the following: healthcare, laboratory facilities, federal, water/wastewater, utility, mission critical, and commercial office facilities
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivated and organized
  • Work both independently and with a project team
  • Some travel will be required
  • BIM/Revit experience is highly preferred
  • Experience in sustainable design/LEED
  • Local candidates are preferred

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems);
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
