Job Title: Technical Support Engineer I

Location: Providence RI

Duration: 12 Months

Position Overview

The Technical Support Engineer I will provide configuration, installation, maintenance, and technical support for end-user systems across the Office. This role supports both cloud-based and on-premise environments, ensuring the reliability of hardware, software, and communication systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and implement fixes for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Provide timely customer service and help desk support.
  • Create, modify, and delete user accounts as required.
  • Collaborate with state agencies for hardware/software service and repair.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity and web-based access issues; provide remote support as needed.
  • Create, deploy, and maintain PC images and software distribution packages.
  • Configure, maintain, and monitor cloud and local software solutions.
  • Perform user data and email archiving.
  • Track and maintain IT inventory and support schedules.
  • Participate in on-call and after-hours support as required.

Supported Systems & Tools

  • Hardware: Desktop and laptop computers, Surfaces, printers, scanners, and monitors.
  • Software: Microsoft Office 365, proprietary applications, internet browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome), Adobe Acrobat DC/Reader, productivity tools.
  • Telephony: Econotel IP Telephone System.
  • Operating Systems: Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Current network and operating system certifications strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical skills in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and system support.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
