About the Job:

The Estimator / Project Manager plays a critical role in both project estimation and management. This position requires strong communication skills, industry knowledge, and attention to detail to support field operations, bid preparation, cost estimation, and client relationship management. The ideal candidate will handle projects from bidding to collection, ensuring smooth coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders.

Purpose of the Position:

To manage the full life cycle of bridge construction projects, from estimating through execution and closeout, while maintaining relationships with clients and internal teams. The Estimator / Project Manager ensures projects meet scope, cost, and schedule requirements and contributes to the company s commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety policies across all work environments.
  • Maintain and grow business relationships with both new and existing clients.
  • Perform takeoffs and cost estimating for Bridge, Grade, and Drain projects.
  • Maintain project document control and tracking systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Field Superintendents and Area Managers to ensure project execution aligns with plans and budgets.
  • Assist Contract Administrator with billing, receivables, and project documentation.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively via verbal and non-verbal means (reports, plans, documentation).
  • Prioritize and manage tasks efficiently across multiple ongoing projects.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience estimating INDOT, KYTC, municipal, and commercial projects.
  • In-depth understanding of INDOT and KYTC
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Experience with digitizing takeoff software.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid / Heavy Job is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
    OR
  • Equivalent hands-on experience in heavy civil construction.
