Job Details

Role: Senior Firewall Engineer
Location: Pentagon (Arlington, VA) 5 days onsite
Clearance: Active Secret required (will be upgraded to TS/SCI)
Interview Process: 1-step video interview

Key Responsibilities:
Support firewall security initiatives using DoD STIGs, NIST, DISA, and NSA guidelines
Identify misconfigurations, conflicting rules, security gaps, and performance issues
Conduct at least two firewall and two load balancer assessments monthly
Generate assessment and After Action Reports (AARs)
Recommend firewall changes, including JRSS firewall updates
Optimize and evaluate firewall rule-sets for maximum security

Basic Qualifications:
BS degree + 8 years relevant experience (or equivalent experience)
Active DoD Secret clearance; ability to obtain TS/SCI
3+ years firewall experience in a DoD environment
DoD-8570 IAT Level II certification
Juniper, Cisco, or Palo Alto certification
Strong knowledge of perimeter & internal firewalls (physical & virtual)
Experience managing baseline configs across multiple firewalls
Expertise evaluating and optimizing firewall rules
