We're looking for an experienced Lead API Engineer (Fastify) to take ownership of designing and supporting secure, scalable APIs and back-end systems. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll guide architecture decisions, mentor team members, and ensure high-quality delivery.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr.

What You'll Do:
- Lead the design and implementation of APIs and back-end services.
- Troubleshoot, monitor, and optimize existing systems for performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to deliver strategic solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentor junior developers.
- Ensure security, compliance, and best practices across all systems.
- Support bug fixes and production issues, including writing and deploying code.
- Help with interviewing and onboarding as the team grows.
What We're Looking For
- Leadership experience in back-end development and architecture.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as: Java, Python, Ruby, PHP, or Node.js.
- Experience with Fastify APIs (required).
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB).
- Familiarity with Git and basic front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Experience in monitoring, alerting, and operational support frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach to system performance.
