Job Title: z/OS Systems Programmer / Mainframe Administrator

Work Mode: Remote

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced z/OS Systems Programmer to provide primary technical support, administration, and subject matter expertise for z/OS operating systems and related mainframe components. This remote role involves supporting system upgrades, managing ISV products, administering CICS and IMS , troubleshooting performance issues, and collaborating with cross-functional technical teams. The ideal candidate has strong experience in z/OS systems programming, performance analysis, systems tuning, and mainframe tools such as JES2, OMVS, SMS, TSS, and SCLM.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for z/OS operating systems and system components.
  • Provide direct technical support for planning, implementation, testing, and deployment of z/OS releases, upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.
  • Provide end-user support for assigned Independent Software Vendor (ISV) products such as BlueZone.
  • Administer and support SCLM, including configuration, maintenance, and end-user assistance.
  • Support, administer, and maintain CICS and IMS environments.
  • Provide technical input and recommendations for hardware capacity planning.
  • Diagnose platform, system software, and related product issues; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze system performance issues and provide recommendations for performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Assist in managing system parameters, system libraries, and configuration standards.
  • Support integration testing of new products or enhancements with existing applications and system procedures.
  • Provide technical consultation and support to internal IT teams.
  • Act as technical lead or contributor on internal projects that impact the z/OS platform.
  • Assist in maintaining and providing technical support for Mainframe Production Control and monthly Job Scheduler processes.



Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years - Experience with z/OS Systems Programming
  • 5 years - Experience with JES2, z/OS Unix System Services (OMVS), Storage Management Subsystem (SMS)
  • 3 years - Experience with TSS (Top Secret Security)
  • 3 years - Experience with performance monitoring, including initial performance issue analysis
  • 2 years - Experience with REXX scripting



Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years - Experience with Informatica Power Exchange Administration
  • Working knowledge of:
    • z/OS Operations
    • z/OS Networking (VTAM, TCP/IP)
  • Working knowledge of the following tools and technologies:
    • Job scheduling and management (e.g., JOBTRAC)
    • Terminal emulation software (e.g., BlueZone)
    • VTAM Session Manager (VTAM/SWITCH)
  • Working knowledge of core mainframe utilities and facilities:
    • SMP/E, RMF, SMF, WLM, JCL
    • GRS, VSAM, TSO
  • Experience with TLS configuration (certificates, SSL, RSA Keys, SFTP, FTPS)
  • Experience with SCLM or similar configuration management tools, including configuration and administration
  • Experience with CPM for JOBTRAC
